Vale of Glamorgan Football League Preview – 23/3/19

Vale of Glamorgan Football League Preview – 23/3/19

After a complete wash out last weekend, this week the weather is much improved which means dry pitches and Vale football.
AFC Rhoose travel to St Athan in one of two Premier Division games, Rhoose will be looking to keep alive their slim title hopes but defeat would hand Barry Athletic the league championship. A Rhoose win will also keep them second, the division so close that three points separate second and fifth.
Sully Sports welcome Island Marine with both sides playing their first league game in a month. Marine will be looking to warm up for their ASRS Cup final in a few weeks but take on a Sully side with one loss in their last four league games.
In Division One, Cadoxton Imps play bottom side SP Billy in the hope that Holton Road can do them a favour in the race for promotion. An Imps win coupled with if Holton Road can overcome a tricky Tynewydd, would send Imps second and in the driving seat for promotion. Tynny though have only lost one in their last seven league games and have their own plans on going up. Elsewhere, Cardiff Airport will be hoping to continue their recent form and hope results go their way as they look to keep their outside hopes of promotion alive, as they play a determined Cwm Talwg side.
Just the one game in Division Two, Island Marine play AFC Rhoose B with Rhoose B looking to keep their title challenge going, as they try to keep St Athan B and Barry Vikings at bay. Rhoose B sit three points ahead of second place St Athan B and have played two games less, and four points ahead of third place Barry Vikings but have played a game more. The title race is really gathering pace now.
An entertaining few games await this Saturday, check back here for a full round up over the weekend.
